The young guns travelled to Grangemouth BC to play West Fife BA in the semi-final of The Jim Bell Scottish Cup. They certainly put the spectators through the wringer with an eventual win 70 v 66
A Tregonning 14 v Dylan Robertson 22
Josh Spalding 29 v Dylan Robertson 6
Liam McKay 13 Daniel Martin 17
Ross Thompson 14 v Jack Small 21
Onwards to the final where Lanarkshire BA were waiting after they had defeated Grampian BA in their semi-final
If we thought the semi-final was nerve wracking, the final against Lanarkshire BA produced excellent bowls and absolute drama to the end. With the game tied at 64 v 64 the rules dictated an one rink shoot out to decide the outcome.
This was down to Andrew Tregonning v Reece Notman. Ryan Cherrie drew to within 6 inches to put the pressure on but a great response from Aaron Donald to within a couple of inches of the jack put the pressure back onto Lanarkshire BA and their skip Reece Notman. Reece had the final bowl to save the day. Had a drive at the head that missed by a whisker. The Trophy was on its way back to the Capital.
The Jim Bell was the last trophy that the Association Under 25 team required to complete the collection. League, Jim Bell and Calder Cup.
Dean Mackintosh 14 v John Meikle 13
Josh Spalding 16 v John Orr 11
Andrew Tregonning 19 v Greg McLaughlin 13
Ross Thomson 15 v Reece Notman 27
Congratulations to all the players and Team Managers John McDermott, Raymond Richards and assistant Donald Forsyth.
